Built in 1920, the Winema Theatre is one of Scotia's most recognizable landmarks. After falling into disrepair over the years, the theatre is now enjoying a renaissance thanks to PALCO President and CEO Robert Manne.
In 2002, he personally supervised a $200,000 renovation, creating a premier facility that includes an upgraded sound system and state-of-the-art projection equipment, as well as a new movie screen, new seats, and new stage curtains.
The theatre is used year-round for town meetings, graduation ceremonies, school plays, repertory productions, concerts, and the annual children's Christmas Party. In addition, during the summer, Robert Manne hosts free Friday-night movies, and over the winter the Winema Theatre introduces a new generation of kids to a classic tradition the Saturday matinee.
