PALCO's motto, "Working for the Future" is evident in how the Company treats the children of Scotia. To help employees with young children, PALCO subsidizes the town's daycare center. The Company also fully funds Scotia's 300-student grade school, and leases it to the state for just $1 a year.
In addition, PALCO provides college scholarships to graduating seniors of every PALCO employee. Over the years, the Company has presented more than $4 million in scholarships to the children of Scotia.
Recently, Manne started a new program called "Expanded Horizons" to help Scotia teens broaden their perspectives. Working with the People to People program, PALCO now sponsors a number of young people each year to travel abroad and learn more about the customs and cultures of other countries. PALCO President and CEO Robert Manne calls the Company's commitment to the people of Scotia "an investment in the future theirs and ours."
