George Fenwick has been President of American Bird Conservancy (ABC) since its founding in 1994. ABC is the sole U.S.-based group dedicated solely to conserving wild birds and their habitats throughout the Americas, and has become the leading force for American bird conservation through creative partnerships, coalitions, and networks. Prior to founding ABC, Fenwick served in a variety of positions at The Nature Conservancy over 16 years' service, including Vice President for Science, VP for Ecosystem Conservation, and Chair of the Last Great Places Campaign Steering Committee. He has a Ph.D. from the Department of Pathobiology at Johns Hopkins University and serves on several conservation boards. He co-authored The 500 Most Important Bird Areas in the United States, published by Random House in 2003.
